Hello, New Families!
We’re thrilled to welcome your family to the Rumsey Community. Your journey begins with preparing for the start of school and completing the necessary information so you are ready to begin the year on the first day. Our teachers, advisors, coaches, dorm parents, and administrators anticipate your arrival. They are eager to help you ease into the school year and learn more about your academic, personal, and social goals. Let’s get started!
Step 1: Welcome to the Blue Dog Community
Start by signing into the Blue Dog Portal, your gateway to our community.
The Blue Dog Portal gives parents and students easy access to school resources and information, including grades, schedules, permission forms, calendars, etc. Each parent/guardian and student will have their own assigned login to access the Portal. Most parents will have logged in during the admission process, and students will receive their login shortly before school begins. If you haven’t already registered, please follow the links on this page.
To initiate the process, parents receive an email from Rumsey Hall Blue Dog Portal with a Blackbaud ID invitation. Follow these instructions to accept the invitation and set up your Blue Dog Portal account. For further information about Technology at Rumsey, read the Technology FAQ section.
Step 2: Prioritize Health and Safety
Complete essential health forms to ensure we can provide the best care for your child.
Rumsey Hall School uses a trusted company, August Schools Health Portal, to collect and maintain student medical information. Families will receive a notification when the Health Portal is open and to begin their Health Enrollment Packet Request. All Requirements must be completed by August 1st. We recommend scheduling your child’s physical exam prior to August in order to meet requirement deadlines.
- Parents should log into the Blue Dog Portal with their own credentials. Then go to the Resource Board and click on the August Schools Health Portal icon. This action will sync parents directly into their child's Health Portal account, allowing the parent to review and complete health requirements.
- Once you have opened the Health Portal, the system will initiate emails reminding you to complete requirements.
For inquiries regarding your child’s health, please contact Rumsey Health Center:
Email: healthcr@be400.com, Tel: 860-868-0535 (x154), Fax: 860-868-1422
Read the Health and Wellness FAQ section for further information about Health and Wellness at Rumsey.
Step 3: Get Acquainted with Academic Life
Explore the academic calendar and familiarize yourself with important dates, including the opening day schedule.
Many resources are available at Rumsey to help our students succeed. The links in this section provide a handy shortcut to access the FAQ sections and contact details for Rumsey faculty and staff who can assist you with any questions you may have.

Please consult the Business Office FAQ section for more information.
School Forms are assigned and available within your Blue Dog Portal account. These Forms may include Activity Consent, Image Consent, Technology Consent, Sports Participation, Lesson Sign-Ups, New Student Travel Form, and more. Only one parent is required to log in and complete forms. Email reminders will continue to be sent until all assigned School Forms are completed prior to the start of school.
To access your School Forms, log in to your Blue Dog Portal account. Then, click on the large yellow banner or your name on the top right and choose Files and Forms. To review completed forms, click on your name in the top right corner, choose Files & Forms, and select the “checkbox.”
